Christoph Coburger studied Composition under Ulrich Leyendecker in Hamburg and obtained the diploma in 1990. Since 1985 he has worked as a composer and music director, covering music theatre, contemporary music, opera, spoken theatre and radio.
He has collaborated with Ruth Berghaus, Matthias Langhoff and Heiner Goebbels as sound designer and live-electronics engineer and with Caspar Brötzmann at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. He has worked with Max Claessen, Lore Stefanek, Ingo Kerkhof, Elke Lang, Ulrich Waller, Sybille Broll-Pape, Dominik Graf, Alexandra Holtsch, Falk Richer, Hans Gratzer. Since 1992 he has collaborated with conductor and composer Sebastian Gottschick. He has worked at Deutsches Schauspielhaus, Kampnagel and Thalia Theater in Hamburg, Residenztheater, Kammerspiele in Munich; Nationaltheater Mannheim, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Staatstheater Saarbrücken, Schleswig-Holsteinischen Landestheater; Schauspielhaus, Theater am Neumarkt in Zurich, Burgtheater, WUK, Künstlerhaus Brut und Schauspielhaus in Vienna, Landestheater Linz, Grand Théatre de la Ville de Luxembourg. He used to direct the Foundation of the Ensemble für städtebewohner m. Ernst Bechert in Vienna, Zurich, and Berlin. Currently, he is a member of the Trio Dead Letter Office with Anna Trauffer and Philipp Schaufelberger and the ensemble für neue musik Zürich.
