She has appeared in numerous films, television series and theatre productions directed by Hasko Weber, Tobias Wellemeyer, Robert Schuster, Andrzej Woron at Das Teatr Kreatur, and countless others. Wicki has lived in Berlin since 1981. A few decades earlier, her mother Eleni Kalaitzi was removed from her family by the communist regime and deported to Eastern Europe for ideological indoctrination – together with 28,000 other children aged 3-14. Wicki shares her family’s story in my new production Stepmother Home scheduled to premiere in May 2020 in Berlin (Germany) and Wrocław (Poland). We have worked together to track destinies of other Greek children who faced a similar fate, and examine socio-political implications of this mass deportation for the descending generations.
