The main theme and main character of LubLove is love itself. The performance explored origins, phases and different shades of love, based on dialogues and monologues of couples that constitute the cultural images of love: Adam and Eve (the first refugees, escaping the Paradise together?), Venus and Adonis, Cleopatra and Antonius, Romeo and Juliet, Tristan and Isolde, Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’Hara, the Beauty and the Beast and… The Princess and The Frog King, and eventually also Sarah Kane’s craving for love.
The spectacle combined drama, performative art, and dance and featured ballet and opera music.
The project LubLove took off with an exhibition of relics of “past loves” donated by inhabitants of Lublin: each object with a story attached to it, describing the love affair experienced to the donor. Thus, a collection of seemingly ordinary objects constituted an extraordinary gallery showing various aspects and faces of Love, involving people of different ages and backgrounds. The exhibition was later used as scenography of the performance.
Performed at the international Theatre Confrontations Festival in Lublin, within the project Mikro Teatr by Komuny // Warszawa
Performed on a train between Berlin and Wrocław within the Deutsche Bahn’s Kulturzug project
